Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.)
Introduction
The Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) is a professional teacher education programme
designed to prepare competent physical education teachers, sports trainers, fitness instructors,
and sports administrators. The programme focuses on developing knowledge, skills, and
competencies related to physical fitness, sports sciences, health education, coaching, and
sports management. It aims to promote holistic development by integrating physical, mental,
emotional, and social well-being through sports and physical activities.
The B.P.Ed. programme is offered by Gyanodaya Mahavidyalaya, Sagar, a constituent unit of
Gyanveer University,Sagar with the objective of producing qualified professionals capable of
contributing effectively to the fields of physical education, sports coaching, fitness training,
and community health promotion. The curriculum is designed in accordance with the guidelines and
norms prescribed by the relevant regulatory authorities and incorporates theoretical knowledge,
practical training, field experiences, internships, and research-oriented learning.
The programme provides students with opportunities to develop expertise in various sports
disciplines, sports psychology, exercise physiology, health education, sports biomechanics,
sports management, and contemporary fitness practices. Graduates of the programme can pursue
careers as Physical Education Teachers, Sports Coaches, Fitness Trainers, Sports Officers,
Wellness Consultants, and Sports Administrators in educational institutions, sports
organizations, fitness centers, and government departments.
